This was created for patients, parents, primary caregivers and health professionals who provide care for children with cancer. The objective of this website is to provide medical services through a web-based platform to share helpful information for the care of the children with cancer, especially in the home setting. The services provided by the website were created to give you an opportunity to obtain medical information and consult to or get referrals from your primary doctor to a specialist near you without requiring you to approach a hospital. The consults will focus on the palliative care needs or on the appropriate medical care to alleviate the symptoms of your child with cancer.

The user acknowledges and agrees that the services rendered are limited due to the nature of the platform (this website). The user must assess, evaluate, gauge the applicability of the service for his/her specific purpose, and bear all risks associated with the use of such service.

The services and all content provided in this website are for general informational purposes only and may not reflect current medical developments, advances, or breakthroughs. Any information in the website content or service should not be construed as medical advice and is not intended to substitute for medical counsel on any subject matter.  The user should not act or refrain from acting on the basis of any content, data, or information obtained or accessed from or through the service without seeking the appropriate medical or other professional advice on particular condition or circumstances of the patient. CREDIT TRANSACTIONS FOR HOME CARE SERVICES

The provision of home care services is free of charge while the research program is running. Beyond the duration of the research program, the fee for home care services will be paid directly to the visiting nurse or physician based on the rate specified in the website. You will need to sign an invoice as proof of your payment.

 

REMOTE CONSULTATION SERVICES

Once you have provided consent and availed of the consultation services in this website, you shall recognize and agree with the following:

• You understand and consider the limitations of teleconsultation to the care of your child and you accept the responsibility for the risks related to these limitations.
• The medical information you will receive may be limited based on the information that can only be provided through the telemedicine and by the physicians and other health professionals involved in the care. Performance of tests may be limited and physical examination may not be feasible. Thus, any information that can possibly be obtained using a comprehensive assessment can be considered as a limitation of the website and may affect the treatment by the physicians who will conduct teleconsultations.
• Teleconsultations through the website shall not be considered as an equal substitute to the comprehensive medical consultation with a specialist in oncology or palliative care.
• It is your right as the legal guardian of the patient to cancel or terminate the teleconsultation of your child through the website whenever you decide.
• The website administrator, together with the doctors involved, reserves the right to cancel or terminate the teleconsultation of your child through the website if deemed necessary for the welfare of your child.
• The teleconsultations and information coming from the consultation through the website should not be used in any legal proceedings against any physician or other health professionals. These must not be considered as expert opinion in the legal proceedings.
• The website administrators and the physicians do not guarantee the results of the teleconsultation such as improvement of medical condition or full recovery from disease. Nevertheless, the general intention of the website is to help and support the alleviation of the symptoms experienced by children with cancer.

 

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR ON-LINE CONSULTATION AND HOME CARE SERVICES

Any untoward incident that may arise from the use of the consultation services through this website and the request for home care services is the accountability of the institutions who will provide the teleconsultations services and home care services based on the signed agreements.
