The Aruga sa Batang may Cancer (ABC) Initiative is a project implemented by the University of the Philippines Open University and funded by the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Council for Health Research and Development dedicated to provide patients, caregivers and other healthcare providers an access to information related to pediatric palliative care. The website has 4 major components: Learning Management System for Health Professionals and Caregivers, Telemedicine, and Pediatric Cancer Registry.
Pediatric Palliative Care Course for Physicians (PPCCP)
- Basic: General Concepts and Principles of Pediatric Palliative Care and Assessment and Management of Uncomplicated Pain and Other Symptoms
- Advance: Opioids and Other Related Medicines in PPC, Teaching PPC, and PPC Quality Care
Aruga sa Batang may Cancer Initiative Implements its Telemedicine System in Bicol
The Aruga sa Batang may Cancer Initiative Project began the implementation of its telemedicine system in the Bicol Region on 13 September 2019. Instead of going to the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH) in Legazpi City, three participating pediatric cancer patients had their follow-up consultation with Dr. Vincent B. Aguilar, Pediatric Hema-Oncologist in BRTTH, at the Bacon District Health Unit in Sorsogon with the support of Bacon Health District Health Officer, Dr. Jazel Saddao-Calleja.
